Almost Holme - 6/13

Susan Rutkowski and her daughter Carly went with me last night.  The bar was emptier than last week with only about 30 patrons.  40 people if you include the workers.
Trivia - Frank told us that Bobby Bandiera had named his dog Carly and then liked the name so much named his daughter Carly too.
They were not as good as last week.  They really need Bubba to adjust the sound system.  Chard just isn't doing it.  And someone needs to dress Kip.
Susan seemed to be having fun - she was so out of control I told her daughter we were going to make her sit in the back going home.   At the end of the night she was playing with the band!   Tamborine.   4 different guys asked Carly to dance.  She did with 2 of them.  She was dancing so fast and furious she made me dizzy!  One guy she turned down said he was actually glad she did after he saw her dancing.
Speaking of dancing, my gay neighbors in our front house were dancing together on the dance floor.
There was one dedication - TO ME!  - from Kip - "That's What I Like About You".  Only Harry sang and only knew 1/2 the words.
Some other songs they did were:  Pretty Woman, Brown Sugar, I'm A Believer and Brown Eyed Girl.
Susan Rutkowski may be the only woman we know (or anyone knows for that matter)  who actually hoped they'd do Mustang Sally.
Joel chatted for awhile and in conversation let me know that Harry has been sober 13 yrs now and that he was sober about a month now.  It looks like Camille and I may be the only ones still drinking like fishes after age 50!
Susan had me cracking up.  She was imitating Debbie French dancing with her fingers pointed downward.  We must track Debbie down for a reunion.
I think I can say that a pleasant time was had by all.

Any questions?

Holme Revisited - 6/7

They played quite a few of our songs including Build Me Up!  I was actually surprised that Joel & Harry participated (agreed to do) some of the Holme classics like The Wanderer. Kip and Frank participated BIG TIME.  Once Kip got going he was really into it and I never heard him sing so good (strong, loud & with such feeling).  They all had smiles on a mile wide. There was one table of Holme / Cats groupies that Frank said I should be sitting with but you know me I never recognize faces.  Joel's daughter Alexis (in her 20's) got up and sang 2 songs with them.    They were telling everyone to go home & tell 10 friends about it so they would have a bigger crowd this Monday.  The shore was so empty this past weekend that Kathy & I were both able to park in front of the house and in front of D'Jais during happy hour.  I say this because it was really dead on Ocean Ave but you must remember that it was Thunderstorming & pouring so very few people ventured out.   They did not begin playing until 9:45 and 1/3 the bar left before midnight (work the next day?).  I met some really nice and cute young guys (23 yrs old) who conversed with me most of the night and I made a new bartender friend (Erin). I would recommend seeing them before it gets better / bigger because they are just all so happy and joking and friendly and loose.

P.S.  Do you remember I always used to sing I'm in Heaven after I got home after seeing Holme?

I'm In Heaven - 6/7

It was more than I ever dreamed it would be and it was really worth the 25 year wait.  I want you all to go one night with me so I don't want to give too much away.  You can ask though and I will answer your questions. I will tell you this.... they closed with I wanna be sedated!

News of Reunion - 6/6

Dig out your old capezios and Holme T-Shirts. Every Monday night this Summer Joel & Harry are playing D'Jais with Kip & Frank participating in about 10 songs.  Their 1st gig is tonight.   They will play 8:30 to 12:30. I would imagine that as the weeks pass Puggy (who's family still rents a house up the block from D'Jais) and Bobby will participate as will other former Holme members in the Belmar area. I am going tonight for about 2 hours if anyone is interested in joining me.   I am planning on driving home but will stay over if you want to.  We could get ready at home or at my shore house.  This is so exciting!

The Angels are crying from happiness and thunderous applause for finally there is hope of a Holme reunion! (Figures, it's thunderstorming and I have to drive down to Belmar in it).
