Bernie suffered something that had to do with his brain.  He is in rehab right now for treatment. He left the hospital a couple weeks ago.  We do miss him!!!!

Thank you soooo much for the update.   I had heard he suffered a stroke and was on life support.  I did not want to say for fear I was wrong.   I am VERY happy that he is well enough to go home to his family.   Love, M.

I am extremely sorry to hear that.   Again thank you for letting me know.  I used to see Sam the Band with friends and we continued to see Bernie sporadically over the years.  I will keep him in my thoughts.  M.

Thank you for letting me know about the benefit.  The last time I saw Bernie play it was at the Beachcomber.  I will be there.

Im so sorry to hear about burnie and all my prayers will be for him.
I was a seaside resident back in the 80's and some of the 90's and always followed him and frankie at the lakeland in Lakewood andother bars in Ocean Beach and yes the Beachcomber. since 911 I have moved to upstate New York.
and today I was looking into my CD collection and found that my CD was cracked.
and thought I could order another one on line. Then I found this site telling me this tradgic happening. i know this Blog is old but if any one can give me an update on how burnie is doing as of right now, I would be in your dept

Ernie White held a benefit concert at Katmandu in Trenton right before Christmas of 2007. Sam the Band reformed for this one night in support of the "Care for Karen" benefit. Jack Lesley(fighting his own battle with cancer and doing quite well) along with Ernie White, Dennis Carmella, and of course Bernie "the Burn" Dippolito joined in the reunion. Bernie was looking quite well though still recovering. He was absolutely thrilled to be performing. He did an awesome job along with the rest of the band. It was like stepping back twenty years seeing them all perform such STB classics as Slippin Into Darkness, Tight Skirts, Stella, and Emma( I got a big dilemma about my big legged Emma, uh huh... ) and Bernie sang Brand New......just awesome. It was a night to remember. I wish them "All" the best and I hope that Bernie continues with his recovery and I hope that Jack continues to do well also. Ernie, Dennis, Jack and Bernie......Break Out the White Ties an the Tails it's a Party tonight....Keep on Rockin !!!!!!!!!

Is this the same Bernie Dippolito who attended school in Santa Fe, NM early 70's? I don't have any up to date info on him, but I'd love to know what he's up to. Thanks,

Rich Moore

I had been trying to reconnect with an old friend of mine "Bernie Dippolito" from Elizabeth NJ.... I knew him when he lived in Santa Fe NM..... He was at that time a vocalist / conga player that traveled with a national touring R&B group called "Zozobra". Does anyone know if this is the same Bernie (Bernardo as he sometimes called himself)

Thanks

Jorge

Bernie Dippolito is my father! Feel free to call our home phone, we would be thrilled to hear from some old friends and fans. He has been diagnosed with cancer, but he continues to fight, and even still gigs now and then! 732-573-0241
